An Overview Of The KitchenAid Juicer Attachments
The KitchenAid Fruit & Vegetable Strainer Set with Food Grinder Attachment is a masticating slow juicer. It is small-sized appliance with a unique standing design that looks great on the counter. The appliance comes with several attachments each designed to perform a specific task.
So, if you are keen on just the juicing aspect you can buy the masticating juicer and sauce attachment alone also known as the KitchenAid Juicer Attachment. With this attachment you can juice all kinds of soft, hard, and leafy produce. This juicer first breaks down the produce by slicing using the sharp blades and then processing in the masticating style. Folks not used the masticating, juicer will find the juicing process is very slow.
Other attachments are meant for making pasta, ice cream, vegetable dicing, grain mill, grinder and sausage stuffer and more. Just pick the attachments you are interested in as you might not need or want all the attachments.
The idea behind this juicer design is indeed good one. The makers have created a multi-purpose machine. So, you don’t need to buy multiple appliances. It saves counter space and also money for the customer to own just one appliance instead of half a dozen. The idea is great and praise-worthy and highly appreciated by many.
The KitchenAid Fruit & Vegetable Strainer Set with Food Grinder Attachment review sets out to find how good the juicer is in juicing fruits, vegetables and greens.
KitchenAid Juicer Attachment Review:
The KitchenAid Fruit & Vegetable Strainer Set with Food Grinder Attachment has two attachments suitable for juicing. One is the citrus juicer attachment and other is the masticating juicer attachment. For this review we are limiting our discussion only to these two attachments and the accessories needed for juicing.
Attachment And Accessories:
Citrus Juicer Attachment:
The KitchenAid JE Citrus Juicer Attachment is suitable for juicing all kinds of citrus fruits. With this attachment you can ensure no seeds get into the juice. This is unique to KitchenAid juicer as most other juicers simply process the seeds along with everything else you put in to the juicer. Not everyone appreciates the bitterness that comes with crushed seeds in juice and would like a better tasting orange or grapefruit juice. With KitchenAid Citrus attachment you can get a seed-free superior tasting citrus juice.
Three Pulp Screens:
Start juicing everyday with the help of the KitchenAid Juicer and Sauce Attachment. This separate attachment which as you know fits directly to the KitchenAid Stand Mixer works like a slow masticating juicer type that slices the fresh produce – whether it hard or soft produce or even leafy greens into tiny bits and extracts maximum nutrition. The three pulp screens give you limitless options for making juices like high pulp or low pulp and for sauces and jams.
According to KitchenAid the juicer attachment is meant for making both high pulp and low pulp juices, jams and sauces. For this KitchenAid provides 3 pulp screens. If you enjoy thicker juices with pulp consistency use the high pulp screen. If you like clear juices use the low pulp screen and for something in between use the third screen.
So, to make sauces and jams you can use the high pulp screen and for clear juices use the low pulp screen. Just use the screen suitable for your juicing/jam/sauce requirement.
Extra Wide Feed Tube:
Despite the claim of an extra-wide chute, it is not really the largest of feed chutes. There are several juicers with larger chutes than this one. The chute is according to us normal-sized. But there is not much need for chopping and cutting. Using this masticating KitchenAid juicer you can crush and juice any type of hard, soft or leafy green produce. The extra sharp blades simply pulverize and chop through anything you put through the feed tube.
The KitchenAid juicer comes with a sauce attachment. This is unique to KitchenAid juicers. No other juicer provides a sauce attachment. Connect the sauce attachment to the power hub. Follow the recipe directions and use the KitchenAid sauce attachment to make your family a delicious, creamy and smooth sauce.
In addition to the two juicer attachments and sauce attachments, the KitchenAid juicer comes with a big-sized jug for collecting juice and large pulp bin to collect the dry pulp after juicing. These useful accessories help keep the kitchen clean without any spillage or waste lying around while juicing.
Juice quality and taste are normal without being exceptional. This is expected as the juicer is not an exclusive juicing machine and juicing is just one of the multiple tasks it performs.
Light Weight And Compact:
This juicer weighs under 5 pounds and has pretty small footprint. So, it will not occupy much counter space. On top of it looks pretty nice too with its standing design.
Is KitchenAid Masticating Juicer Suitable For Everyone?
In our considered view the KitchenAid masticating juicer is more suited to the beginners. The newbie juicers who are just starting out in the juicing world might find it easy to use. It is also suitable for the folks who juice occasionally.
It isn’t suitable for those who juice daily or more frequently and in large quantities. If you value taste and quality of juice steer clear of this juicer as it produces very average quality juice.
The juice yield is low so, you will end up using more produce to make same amount of juice. Since, this KitchenAid Masticating Juicer is part of kitchen processor set that does multiple other things you might not mind it too much if the juicing isn’t top-notch. But, if you plan to juice every day, find other juicers that do a much better job at a lower long-term cost.
KitchenAid Masticating Juicer Performance
This juicer is designed to juice all types of fruits, vegetables and green leafy vegetables. But on testing we noted that it doesn’t handle hard produce well. It does great with citruses and apples. With all other types of produce the juice yield is very low.

Hard Produce Problems:
It is difficult to juice hard produce with this juicer. Also, the noise levels are high when juicing them. With the harder produce the noise levels are very high and the motor struggles while juicing them. As it is multi-functional appliance probably the motor of this juicer is not able to handle some tougher produce as it is not specifically designed for it.
Ease Of Use Of KitchenAid Juicer
It is very easy to assemble and disassemble. Most masticating juicers are complex and users find difficulty in this step but not with Kitchenaid Juicer which is very simple to put together and clean. It takes very little time to do these tasks with this juicer.
Most parts of the KitchenAid juicer are dishwasher safe. So, simply rinse and pop it in to the dishwasher after use and you are done. Use the brush provided to clean screens and other parts needing more intense cleaning to remove fibers.
Is It Worth The Price?
It is a multi-purpose appliance like a kitchen processor. So, the price probably reflects all the other functions it is capable of like pasta making, ice-cream making and so on. If it is just for the juicing alone, the price is too expensive. You will get much better standalone juicers for the price. But, considering it can do several other things like grinding, sausage stuffing, pasta making with the different attachments and juicing is just one of things it does, the price a reflection of that.
Best Rated Juicers Below $100
Best rated juicers between $100 and $200
Best Rated Juicer Above $200
Unlike other masticating juicers the KitchenAid juicer offers only one-year warranty. This is too low. Many masticating juicers offer 12 and 15 year warranties. So, that is definitely a very short warranty for the price you pay.
Kitchenaid Juicer Pros
Unique and pleasing design
Very easy to use and clean
Kitchenaid Juicer Cons
Doesn’t handle hard produce
Average quality juice
It is an average product that produces average tasting juice. For the cost of buying this appliance you can buy a stand-alone juicer and have better juicing experience. For a beginner or occasional juicer, the KitchenAid juicer is a suitable appliance as it is so easy to clean and use. But it does not juice hard vegetables well and is very noisy.

KitchenAid The Brand:
KitchenAid is an American home appliance brand owned by Whirlpool Corporation. The company was started in 1919 by The Hobart Manufacturing Company to produce stand mixers; the “H-5” was the first model introduced. The company faced competition as rivals moved into this emerging market, and introduced its trademarked silhouette in the 1930s with the model “K”, the work of designer Egmont Arens. The brand’s stand mixers have changed little in design since, and attachments from the model “K” onwards are compatible with the modern machines.
Initially many of the stand mixers were designed for use commercially and for the Naval ships. Soon the idea that these mixers could be a great aid in the kitchen helped the company launch models for home use. The first sample models were given out the wives of executives in the company and won their instant approval and soon the models were targeted and sold for different segments of the population like farm kitchens, commercial kitchens, soda fountains and homes. A women sales force was recruited to sell their stand mixers door-to-door as retailers were reluctant to carry the product.
